Unique ring by Bernhard Hertz

Ring size 58.

The ring is stamped - 925S BH. In the shaded area it says "Handmade". The ring has two purple semi-precious stones, amethysts, cut like thistle buds. Bernhard Hertz (1834-1909) was trained as a goldsmith in 1858. His apprentice piece, a bangle, was bought for 300 rigsdaler by King Frederik the 7th, who gave it to Countess Danner. The bangle is today exhibited at the Designmuseum Danmark, formerly called the Museum of Industrial Design. Hertz used the money from the sale to build a workshop in Store Kongensgade. The workshop and the front house were completely protected in 1985 and can therefore still be seen in the street.
