Unique Mussel painted vase from Royal Copenhagen
Length 20 cm. Width 7 cm. Height 7.5 cm.
The vase is in an unusual angular shape, a rhombus. It is not porcelain but much more similar to stoneware, hence the grayish color. It is marked with "Opus Scholasticum". The stamp was used in the period around 1950 to 1980 on unique works made in the red villa on the corner of Søndre Fasanvej and Smallegade by selected employees who showed a high technical level. Here they worked according to Persian models and let the blue-fluted pattern be more free and allowed insects to be included. This vase has a bee on the side.
The vase is in perfect condition with a few original firing cracks on the outside.
