Large mirror in micromosaic
Height 34 cm.
Width 27 cm.
Incredibly well-maintained table mirror in micromosaic from the early 19th century.
The mirror is a horseshoe-shaped mirror divided into four colored fields with numerous bouquets of flowers. It is surrounded by glass rods and the mirror itself is gezzo on wood, originally painted gold.
Every single little glass rod is inserted by hand - it has taken an incredibly long time to make a mirror like this.
Normally, mirrors like these have huge defects in the small, thin glass rods, but on this one we can only see a handful of small flaws that absolutely do not spoil its overall appearance.
We've never had such a big thing with micromosaics before.
