Large presentation cup from KPM
Height 13 cm. Diameter of the saucer 18 cm.
Large empire cup from German KPM, Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur. KPM was founded in 1751 by Wilhelm Caspar Wegely and in 1763 taken over by Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, which gave it its royal name, a name the factory kept until 1918 when the German monarchy was abolished and the factory changed its name to Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur. The factory was rebuilt after World War II and still produces porcelain outside Berlin today. The cup is decorated with a mother with children in classic empire clothing. Below the figures is a longer text in German. "On September 21, 1823, the missing day, it was often written. Shine upon you with a clear, cheerful light. You have stopped loving us, but we pray: do not forget us."
The upper cup has old chips on the lion's feet, but is otherwise in perfect condition. The saucer is in perfect condition decorated with a willow tree. It is stamped from the period 1820-1830.
