Rare Royal Copenhagen fish platter with crab

Length 60 cm. Width 24 cm.

The fish dish is beautifully decorated in overglaze with a large Arctic crab and water plants by its side. The dish itself is also available with blue fluting decoration and as undecorated. The dish is stamped with the very rare export stamp from 1893. Per a requirement from the American customs authorities, Royal Copenhagen began stamping their goods that were going to the USA with a red stamp stating that the item was from Denmark. This was only done for a very short time - so the dish can be dated quite precisely to 1893.
