Rare inkwell with enamel and ivory
Length 18 cm. Width 12.5 cm. Height 5 cm. It is stamped with German silver hallmarks and has a proof of 935. The other small stamp is the moon and crown, which indicates that it is German. Very fine oval inkwell with yellow enamel with fine decoration under the enamel. The top is decorated with a carved piece of ivory with lilies of the valley, and has a small light blue spot. This stain may have been applied afterwards as a repair. The inkwell itself stands on a large slab of ivory carved with lilies of the valley. It has the same fine yellow enamel and decoration underneath. The chamber for ink has some wear in the dark blue enamel. It is sold with a valid CITES certificate for sale within the EU. Apart from the small things mentioned, the set is in perfect condition. There are no flaws in the ivory or enamel.
