Rare Christian d. 8 schnapps flute
Height 8.5 cm.
This size is only manufactured at Kastrup Glasværk.
Christian d. 8 was produced at the major Danish glassworks, Holmegaard, Kastrup and Fyens Glasværk from the mid-19th century until the 1940s, when it was discontinued. It is also produced in a smooth version, called Berlinois.
This glass has also been produced at Holmegaard, Kastrup and Fyens Glassworks. Christian d. 8 is one of the most extensive Danish glass series - it is produced in 18 different sizes, from large porter glasses to rare schnapps flutes. Today it is impossible to distinguish the glass from the glassworks from each other.
It is named after the last absolute Danish king, Christian VIII, who reigned from 1839 to 1848, when Denmark transitioned from absolute monarchy to democracy.
