Rare antique rosewood vase
Height 34.5 cm.
Unusual vase shaped like a thorny branch from a rose bush. The vase is from the 1880s and mouth-blown in red/orange glass, attached white thorns that taper to the end of the vase. It has a beautiful green attached foot. The vase is not found in a Danish glass catalog, but Aarhus Glasværk has made a vase in the same style, called the Alliance vase. Not much is known about Aarhus Glassworks as many of their catalogs have been lost and they only existed for 29 years. A number of Bohemian glassworks produced a number of vases in this slightly unusual style in the late 1800s.
