Porter glass from Holmegaard
Height 18.7 cm.
Porter or beer glass from the beginning of the 20th century, made at Holmegaard Glassworks. The glass is mouth-blown with a distinct purple hue. This is due to the manganese that has been added to the mass to cleanse it of its grayish cast. This glass is so-called over-colored.
It is polished with high facets on the bowl, a short stem and a large mollex under the bowl. At the bottom it is with a clear polished mark. The glass is as seen in Holmegaard's catalog from the year 1900 but was discontinued before 1915 when the next catalog was published.
