Nephrite green hyacinth glass

Height 20.5 cm. The color is difficult to reproduce in the picture - but in sunlight it is nephrite green, as opposed to the slightly gray shade it has in the pictures. Hyacinth glass is an old tradition, originally from France. Queen Marie Antoinette filled Versailles with fragrant flower bulbs, hyacinths in specially made glass vases, with room for the bulb at the top so that it did not touch the water and thereby go bad. This model was produced at Fyens Glasværk from 1890 until about 1930 in a myriad of colours. Eq. model is manufactured at both Holmegaard and Aalborg Glasværk.
