Clear hyacinth glass from Fyens Glasværk
Height 20 cm.
Hyacinth glass is an old tradition, originally from France. Queen Marie Antoinette filled Versailles with fragrant flower bulbs, hyacinths in specially made glass vases, with space for the bulb at the top so that it did not touch the water and thus went bad.
This model was produced at Fyens Glasværk from 1890 until around 1930 in a myriad of colors. Similar models are made at both Holmegaard and Aalborg Glassworks.
The glass has a little dullness at the bottom, which is very difficult to avoid with this color.
