Holmegaard Wine glass no. 2 with vine leaves
Height 11 cm.
Beautifully cut wine glass no. 2 from Holmegaard glassworks.
The glass appears in the factory's catalogue from 1853 and is described as having been sold both undecorated, with flower carvings and with this vine leaf decoration.
The cut decorations ceased entirely at the beginning of the 20th century, but this vine leaf decoration ceased in the 1860s and was one of three versions. A recurved, a counter-recurved and this double-recurved, which must be considered the most popular variant of its time. Reference is made to the threads from the grape varieties when the cut is to be identified.
The glass has a clear sharp crack at the bottom and is in generally good condition.
