A pair of beautiful wall lamps from the 1950s from Italy.
The set is in brass, black-lacquered wall brackets and beautiful hand-painted opaline glass shades. The lamps sit diagonally from the wall on the black bracket and brass arms with a nice natural patina. The screen is mounted with two screws on the back. Behind this is a socket for a small socket bulb.
The screens are white opal glass painted with enamel paint in the form of yellow, red and blue dots and two figures from the Italian comedy, Commedia dell'arte. One figure is Pantalone, who is the merchant and must illustrate trade, money, avarice. The other lamp is decorated with the same colored spots and Harlequin with his checkered clothes. Harlequin is to illustrate youth, satire and acrobatics. Harlequin is Pantalone's servant.
