They are stamped on the bottom with the KPm scepter, iron cross and U and S.

A pair of rare egg cups from German KPM stamped with the Iron Cross. KPM stands for Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur.

KPM was founded in 1751 by Wilhelm Caspar Wegely and in 1763 was taken over by Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, giving it its royal name, a name the factory retained until 1918 when the German monarchy was abolished and the factory changed its name to Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur. The factory was rebuilt after World War II and still produces porcelain outside Berlin today.

During World War I, the factory stamped a number of its wares with the German Iron Cross as a sign of patriotism and support for the war. Since the factory, like much of Europe, suffered from shortages during the war, not much of this type of porcelain was produced.

The egg cups are ivory white with neoclassical decoration in the form of relief.

    They are in perfect condition.
