Cigarette box in brass and copper with attached Danish coins.
The tradition of things made of coins arises in the interwar years and continues after the Second World War. Most often these things have been given as gifts based on the tradition that if you always had coins at home, you would never be poor. See they were given in the hope of future prosperity.
Most often, it is smaller things that are made, teapots, lampposts with thimbles and spoons. We have never seen a casket like this before. It is made of solid copper sheets with attached brass hinges and legs, riveted in place. The attached coins are Danish 5-øre and 2-øre in copper.
The casket is truly a beautiful piece of work - should be experienced. It is faintly engraved on the front.
