Berlinois shot glass
Height 7.5-8.5 cm.
Berlinois was produced at the major Danish glassworks, Holmegaard, Kastrup and Fyens Glasværk between the end of the 19th century and the 1940s, when it was discontinued. Today it is impossible to distinguish the glassworks' glasses from each other. Up to 16 different sizes of this glass have been produced, from schnapps to champagne flutes. Berlinois is the uncut version of Christian d. 8 and, unlike Christian d. 8, was not produced for private use, but for use in inns and pubs. It is therefore a rare glass today, despite the large number produced. The glasses have naturally been broken.
Berlinois was produced at, among others, Holmegaard and Fyens glassworks from 1886 to around 1940.
Berlinois is the rough version of Christian the 8th and, unlike Christian the 8th, was not made for private use, but for use in inns and taverns.
The only decoration of the glass is the button on the stem, which makes it easy to hold. It is therefore a rare glass today, despite the large number produced. The glasses have naturally been broken. Berlinois is produced at almost all Danish glassworks and the individual glasses are impossible to refer to a specific work.
Up to 16 different sizes of this glass have been produced, from schnapps to champagne flutes.
The glasses are in perfect condition.
