Antique Blue Flower Dinner Plate, 1800-1809
SKU:9547
Diameter 24 cm.
The plate is signed "V", for Lars Hansen who was employed in the period 1800 to 1809
The very gray porcelain is due to delivery difficulties of kaolin from France, due to the Napoleonic Wars that raged in Europe from 1803 to 1815.
During this period, Royal Copenhagen had to use kaolin from Bornholm, which was not nearly as pure as the French. This period is referred to as the "2nd Bornholm period". The first was at the beginning of the life of the factory.
The plate has several chips on the edge and two cracks underneath.
