Red hyacint vase from Fyens Glasswork

Height 21 cm. Rare ruby red hyacinth glass with optics. This model is manufactured at Fyens Glasværk from 1890 until about 1930 in a myriad of colors. The model part is also manufactured at Holmegaard and Aalborg Glasværk. Hyacinth glass is a longtime tradition, originally from France. Queen Marie Antoinette filled Versailles with fragrant flower bulbs, hyacinths in glass vases made for it, with space for the bulb at the top, so that it did not touch the water and thereby got spoiled. The glass has a very fine red hue but have glass sickness. Item number: 8951
