Potpourri jar from the end of the 18th century
Height 16.5 cm. Unusual potpourri balls in silver from the end of the 18th century. It is stamped with Copenhagen's city mark, the three towers, the stadsguardein mark for Frederik Fabricius and the master mark for Bendix Johan Schnee. Bendix Johan Schnee was born around 1771 and obtained citizenship in Copenhagen in 1796 and died as early as 1822. Several of his works are exhibited at the Museum of Art and Industry and the Carlsberg Foundation has acquired several that are in storage at, among others, The National Museum. It is in good condition with very few marks on the lid knob and the body itself. Due to the small holes, we can't imagine this is for sugar, although sugar used to not be what we know today.
