Large and beautiful brooch in golden metal, gold double, from the end of the 19th century.
It has a black stone in which a fine motif of white flowers has been laid. An ancient technique called Pietra dura. Pietra dura is the art of laying stone in stone, intarsia with stone. The technique was developed in India and is, among other things, used in the Taj Mahal and many other famous buildings. In Europe, it is especially used in Northern Italy by the rich Medici family for their private residences and churches.
