A set of nine bowls with goblets from Stölzle
Bowl Height 7.5 cm. Diameter 14 cm.
Cup Height 9 cm. Diameter 6 cm.
Quite an unusual set of wash basins, consisting of cups and bowls. The set is shown on page 27 of Stölzle's catalogue from 1878.
Normally, rinsing bowls are for rinsing your fingers when eating lobster, crayfish and similar shellfish, but this set is for rinsing your mouth with.
The cup fits on top of the bowl and is filled with water, after which you spit the water back into the bowl and put the cup back on.
The set is mouth-blown blue glass, with polished edges on the bowls or heated edges on the cups. Based on the diversity of the sets and natural wear under the bottom, we estimate that the set is from the 1860s.
Unfortunately, all the bowls have chips to a greater or lesser extent. The cups are in perfect condition. The price is for all nine sets.
