A set of tiles from the 1910s

Length 24-25 cm.

Width 22-22.5 cm.

The tiles are not the same size.

The tiles are decorated with classic art nouveau decoration. A symmetrical pattern and flowers winding around this. In the center is a rose, around which the pattern spreads outwards. The pattern is the same on the two tiles despite their different sizes.

The tiles have several rejections, please see the pictures. Tiles like these have been used to line ovens, hence the name tile oven. They have helped to maintain the heat, so that the stove could heat up the room long after the fire had gone out, e.g. overnight. Hence their hollow back which contained air that was heated.
