Antique pipe board

Originally this was a coat rack like this intended for long pipes.

Longpipes had a long string, which was either hung loosely or wrapped around the shoulder. When you weren't smoking your pipe, you hung the pipe in place with this string.

Today, the coat rack is ideal for tea towels in the kitchen.

It has brass end pieces shaped like halberds. 2 nails are put in the board to increase the number of hooks.
