Small dark green Christian the 8th white wine glass
Height 11 cm. This size is very rare.
Christian the 8th was produced at the larger Danish glassworks, Holmegaard, Kastrup and Fyens Glasværk from the mid-1800s until the 1940s, when it was discontinued. It is also made in a smooth version called Berlinois. This glass has also been produced at Holmegaard, Kastrup and Fyens Glasværk. Christian the 8th is one of the most extensive Danish glass series - it is made in 18 different sizes, from large porter glasses to rare schnapps flutes.
Today, it is impossible to tell the glassworks' glasses apart. It is named after the last absolute Danish king, Christian the 8th, who ruled from 1839 to 1848, when Denmark transitioned from absolute rule to democracy.
