Green Christian d. 8 white wine glasses
Height 12 cm. The glass is made of so-called uranium glass and is almost neon green. Christian d. 8 was produced at the larger Danish glassworks, Holmegaard, Kastrup and Fyens Glasværk from the mid-1800s until the 1940s, when it was discontinued. It is also produced in a smooth version, called Berlinois. This glass has also been produced at Holmegaard, Kastrup and Fyens Glasværk. Christian d. 8 is one of the most extensive Danish glass series - it is produced in 18 different sizes, from large porter glasses to rare schnapps flutes. Today it is impossible to distinguish the glasses of the glassworks from each other. It is named after the last autocratic Danish king, Christian d. 8, who ruled from 1839 to 1848, when Denmark transitioned from autocracy to democracy.
