Rare Berlinoir schnapps flute

Height 9.5 cm.

We have been unable to find this size in any Danish glass catalogue.

Berlinois was manufactured at the major Danish glassworks—Holmegaard, Kastrup, and Fyens Glasværk—from the late 19th century until the 1940s, when production ceased. Today, it is impossible to distinguish the glass produced by the different factories from one another.

Up to 16 different sizes of this glass were produced, ranging from schnapps glasses to champagne flutes. Berlinois is the uncut version of the "Christian VIII" model; unlike Christian VIII, it was not made for private use but for inns and taverns. Consequently, it is a rare glass today, despite the large numbers originally produced—many glasses were inevitably broken over time.

Good condition.
