The box is designed for playing cards and features a movable divider that can be adjusted according to size.
Maria Viktor was a Danish artist who decorated boxes for Alfred Klitgaard using enamel. Her style was consistently more symmetrical—unlike, for instance, the asymmetrical decorations of Bodil Eje, where colors were allowed to flow freely. Maria Viktor’s designs typically feature darker color palettes.
The use of light colors makes this particular decoration highly unusual for Maria Viktor.
Alfred Klitgaard’s boxes are distinguished by superior craftsmanship; they feature a wooden hinge, unlike other boxes that rely on metal fittings and screws.
The box is marked "Klitgaard Denmark" on the underside.
